Archery Villas, St Leonard's on Sea

Gemselect

Number of units: Six restored luxury villas and six apartments converted from a listed building known as Archery Villas

Features: Part of the town's biggest development since the seaside resort was created in the 19th century

Q: How did you feel when you found out you had won the award?

A: I was pleasantly surprised and whilst I was aware that the nomination had been made, I did not expect to be in the running for the finals!

Q: What does it mean to you personally?

A: To me personally this is recognition of many hours of preparation, with personal pride in being able to facilitate other trades to help many others gain invaluable experience and knowledge along the way.

Q: What does it mean for your team / business?

A: As a team this is very important, as it recognises the input from across Gemselect as well as the support we have received via our nominated contractors.

Q: What makes a good Site Manager?

A: A Site Manager is only as good as the team working around them. The Site Manager needs to be a good facilitator for the various trades and professionals to carry out their work, a good planner, and always needs to be respectful of others.

Q: What one success in your work are you most proud of and why?

A: Being a local person, to be able to co-ordinate the refurbishment of such a locally prestigious listed building development to such a high standard, which has enhanced the local area significantly, has to be our main success. This is probably my legacy within the town and something for my family to talk about for years to come.
